Bulgaria’s tourism industry has been one of the country’s most visible areas of growth, as popular areas have been transformed and have become familiar names in the travel and tourism media. The most popular areas with holidaymakers are along Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast and the ski resorts in its mountain ranges, both of which are developing a following for the quality of facilities that are available at competitive prices. For this reason the country has been described as one of the most attractive new faces in the travel and tourism industry at the moment by the World Tourism Organization.
Sofia has some really beautiful Architecture and is undergoing a lot of work there are lots of shopping malls being built and many already open for use. Major Blue chip companies have already moved into Bansko - situated in the Pirin, a less commercial centre and has a traditional Bulgarian atmosphere. Bansko is a town, 925 meters above the sea level, with a population of 15,000 inhabitants. Founded in the 9th-10th centuries, it reached its cultural peak in the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of the houses still have the appearance which they had 150 years ago. In recent years Bansko has made a name for itself as an ideal place to spend one's vacation, especially one's winter vacation.
The summer months also have a lot to offer as there a lot to see in the town of Bansko itself, with around 120 cultural and historical monuments, plenty to explore. Bansko is known to be unique site of international significance. Other than the beautiful Pirin Mountain, the town possesses rich historical sites. Remains from ancient fortresses in the Staroto Gradishte site, are situated just 4 kilometers to the West and the Ulen site along the Demianitsa river flow. Nearby Staroto Gradishte site are the Thracian mound hills. To the South of Bansko is the National Park Pirin, included in the UNESCO list for cultural and natural sightseeing. The park is rich with its lakes, waterfalls, caves, venerable trees and historical sites. Bansko together with Dobrinishte are also famous for their mineral springs, the reserve Bayovi dupki- Djindjiritsa. |
