Second Week - 9th – 15th June, 2008 - Marbella Fería - Being the richest town in Andalucia has one of the most spectacular ferías in the province. Fería translated into English means fair.

The day time fería takes place in and around Parque Alameda and the famous Plaza de los Naranjos lined with the orange trees that exude the aroma of the blossoms!  Filled with ladies and gentlemen in traditional Spanish costumes, on horseback or dancing the traditional Sevillana where space allows for it. There is always plenty of live music from several different bands in a small area each trying to outdo the other while the local people and foreign tourists join in the dancing, drinking and eating!

In the evening the party moves to the fería grounds where you will find all the delights of a large fairground, more dancing, more food and of course, lots of noise!Feria Marbella

San Antonio Fiesta - celebrated the 13th and 14th of June or the closest weekend to these days. Parts of the celebrations include a performance of Moors and Christians, an archaic form of medieval theatre, very extended in the county in the olden days.  Although the celebration is local, it is celebrated in the surroundings of Trevelez in the province of Granada, a 2,5 hr drive from Marbella.

Third Week –21st – 29th June, 2008 - Algeciras Fería – Declared as an Exceptional Attraction by the Andalucían Tourist Board.  The Rock of Gibraltar offers a spectacular background for the celebrations held within the streets and on the beaches.  With the new highway the travel time to Algeciras is now a mere 45 minutes drive by car from Marbella.

La Noche de San Juan23rd June, 2008 – on the beaches - This feast is held each year on the evening of the 23rd June and goes on into the early hours of the 24th (Dia de San Juan). It is the old pagan midsummer celebration which has been 'Christianified' by tacking it on to a convenient Saint's day. Thousands of people attend this feast night and most partake in the local custom of once the bonfire begins to burn down, they will walk into the sea to wash away any bad luck.

The night is usually marked by an extraordinary fireworks display, live music from several bands playing different types of music mainly geared to family entertainment and enjoyment. As is customary no fiesta would be complete without the dancing and vino which continues until the early hours of the morning.
