Summer, when Estepona truly comes Alive, is not just a phrase. It is the feeling of warm evenings on the promenade, music drifting through public squares, families heading out after the beach and the scent of grilled sardines near the sea.
For those staying in Guadalmansa, Estepona East or the New Golden Mile, the best of the season is close enough to enjoy without complicated planning. One evening might begin with dinner in the old town and end with a concert in Plaza del Reloj. Another could be spent at a food festival on the Paseo Marítimo, an open-air film screening with children or a late walk through the Feria lights.
Estepona Town Hall has announced one of its most complete summer programmes to date, with more than 100 cultural, musical, gastronomic and family-friendly activities taking place across the season. Below, we have selected the events most worth noting for residents, homeowners and guests spending summer on this part of the Costa del Sol.
Summer, when Estepona truly comes Alive: key dates for your diary
Date: throughout summer 2026. Venue: Estepona, Cancelada, Paseo Marítimo, Plaza del Reloj, Plaza de Toros, Parque El Calvario, Parque El Ángel, Parque de Los Niños, the Orquidario, the Auditorio Felipe VI and other public spaces. Information: the official programme is published by Estepona Town Hall, with agenda updates also available through Estepona Tourism.
Many events are free, especially open-air cinema, public concerts and family activities. For performances at the Auditorio Felipe VI, Plaza de Toros or private venues, check the official event listing before attending, as times, ticketing and access conditions may vary.
Music under the stars
Date: 26 July to 23 August. Venue: Plaza del Reloj. Event: Municipal Band of Estepona summer concerts. Time: Sunday evenings; check the official agenda before attending.
The Municipal Band concert season is one of the most atmospheric ways to enjoy summer in Estepona. The performances take place in Plaza del Reloj every Sunday from 26 July until 23 August, with themed evenings dedicated to zarzuela, classical works, modern popular music and cinema soundtracks.
Livingstone’s local tip: arrive early and make an evening of it. Walk through the old town before sunset, have dinner nearby, then head to Plaza del Reloj as the square fills. It is relaxed, local and much more memorable than rushing in just before the music starts.
Date: 4 July. Venue: Parque El Calvario. Event: candlelit piano tribute to Ludovico Einaudi by Rafael Montalvo. Information: included in the official summer programme from Estepona Town Hall.
Date: 17 July. Venue: Auditorio Felipe VI. Event: Cologne Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra. Information: check Estepona Town Hall’s cultural agenda before attending.
Date: 24 July. Venue: Plaza de Toros. Event: Madama Butterfly, performed as part of the Festival Lírico Ciudad de Estepona. Date: 25 July. Venue: Plaza de Toros. Event: Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente. These are among the strongest choices for anyone looking for a more formal cultural evening.
Date: 21 August. Venue: Plaza del Ajedrez. Event: La Insostenible Big Band, with swing and jazz. This is a good option for an outdoor summer evening with friends after dinner.
Food festivals by the sea

Date: 7 to 16 August. Venue: Paseo Marítimo. Event: Certamen Mundial del Jamón. Time: evening atmosphere with free concerts each night; check the daily agenda for exact timings.
The Certamen Mundial del Jamón is one of Estepona’s most enjoyable summer food events. It brings Iberian products, tasting opportunities and nightly free concerts to the seafront. Confirmed performers in the official programme include Bordón 4, Justito a tiempo, Nolasco, Henry Méndez, La Frontera, Melon Diesel, Piratas Flamencos, Burning, Dani Márquez and Malamanera.
Livingstone’s local tip: go in the evening rather than during the hottest part of the day. Start with a walk along the promenade, enjoy the food stands, then stay for the concert if the atmosphere feels right.
Date: 11 to 16 August. Venue: Plaza de Toros. Event: The Burger Cup. Information: a new summer event with national burger restaurants, music and activities for all audiences.
This is the easiest choice if you have teenagers, younger guests or friends who prefer a casual night out. It is less traditional than the jamón fair, but practical, relaxed and likely to be one of the more sociable events of the August calendar.
Date: 5 September. Venue: Escollera del Puerto Pesquero. Event: Gran Espetada with free sardine tasting.
The Gran Espetada is one of the most local experiences in the programme. Freshly grilled sardines by the fishing port are part of the classic Costa del Sol summer ritual, and this event is ideal for anyone who wants something simple, authentic and close to the sea.
Open-air cinema and family evenings
Date: throughout summer. Venue: different public spaces in Estepona. Event: free summer cinema. Information: Estepona Town Hall has confirmed eight free screenings of recent family films.
The summer cinema programme is one of the most useful options for families. Confirmed titles include Flow, A Minecraft Movie, Jurassic World: Rebirth, Superman, Voy a pasármelo mejor, Karate Kid: Legends, How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch.
Livingstone’s local tip: check the exact location and time on the day, take something light for children to sit on, and arrive early enough to find a comfortable spot. Open-air cinema is informal, but it is always easier when you do not arrive at the last minute.
Date: three days during the summer programme. Venue: to be confirmed through the official agenda. Event: Harry Potter activities marking the 25th anniversary of the film release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
The Harry Potter programme will include exhibitions, games, street entertainment, music and a screening of the film. This is one of the strongest family-friendly highlights for children and visiting grandchildren.
Date: 30 July. Venue: Parque de Los Niños. Event: The Lion King musical tribute. Date: 6 August. Venue: Parque El Calvario. Event: K-POP Hunt. Date: 20 August. Venue: Parque El Ángel. Event: Alice in Wonderland.
These family shows are exactly the kind of events that make summer in Estepona easier to enjoy with guests. They are local, outdoors and simple to combine with an early dinner.
Books, art and culture by the Mediterranean
Date: 18 July to 13 September. Venue: Paseo Marítimo. Event: Feria del Libro en Verano. Information: the summer book fair celebrates its 31st edition, with daily author signings and most books priced under five euros according to Estepona Town Hall.
The summer book fair is one of the quieter pleasures of Estepona. It is not flashy, but it is exactly the sort of event that makes the promenade feel alive in the evening. Go after dinner, browse without rushing and enjoy the sea breeze.
Date: until 14 August 2026. Venue: Mirador del Carmen. Event: Maestros de la luz y la forma. Information: the exhibition brings together 60 works, including pieces by Picasso, Sorolla, Tàpies, Miquel Barceló, Diego Rivera and Julio Romero de Torres, according to Cadena SER Málaga.
This exhibition is one of the best cultural reasons to visit Estepona this summer. The Mirador del Carmen has become an important part of the area’s cultural identity, and this is a good plan for a late afternoon before dinner in the centre.
Date: every Tuesday during the summer programme. Venue: outdoor spaces across Estepona and Cancelada. Event: dance performances by municipal dance schools, local academies and invited performers.
Date: 22 August. Venue: Parque Botánico Orquidario. Event: Raíces y herencia flamenco show. Information: the official programme presents it as a flamenco performance by Lourdes Bazán and her son.
Date: 23 to 26 September. Event: Estepona Fashion Week, including the VII Concurso de Jóvenes Diseñadores Estepona de Moda. Information: included in the official summer cultural programme.
Estepona Feria: the summer tradition not to miss
Date: 7 to 12 July. Venue: Recinto Ferial. Event: Feria y Fiestas Mayores de Estepona 2026. Information: confirmed by Estepona Town Hall and listed on the official Estepona tourism agenda.
If there is one event that captures the spirit of summer in Estepona, it is the Feria y Fiestas Mayores. Expect music, flamenco dresses, fairground rides, food, family gatherings and long evenings that naturally stretch into the night.
This year’s official poster, Cuando el mar baila, was designed by artist Marta Bernad and inspired by sunrise over the Mediterranean. It is a fitting image for the feria itself: colourful, warm, traditional and closely connected to the sea.
Livingstone’s local tip: go in the evening, take your time and do not try to see everything. Feria is best enjoyed slowly. Walk through the fairground, listen to the music, stop for something to eat and let the atmosphere carry the evening.
For those staying in Guadalmansa and the New Golden Mile
If you are based in Guadalmansa, Costalita, Cancelada, El Paraíso, Cabo Bermejo, Torre Bermeja, Menara Beach, Las Dunas Park or elsewhere along the New Golden Mile, summer in Estepona is close enough to become part of daily life.
You can spend the day by the beach, enjoy the quiet of your community and still head into Estepona for dinner, music, cinema, culture or a late walk by the sea. That balance is one of the reasons this part of the coast is so loved by residents and returning visitors.

Livingstone’s perfect summer evening in Estepona
Start just before sunset in the old town. Wander through the white streets and flower-filled corners, then stop for a drink in Plaza de las Flores. From there, walk down towards the promenade as the sea breeze begins to cool the evening and restaurants start to fill.
If there is a concert, food festival, exhibition or open-air cinema screening taking place, let the evening unfold around it. If not, simply keep walking. Some of the best summer evenings in Estepona are the ones without a strict itinerary.
That is why Summer, when Estepona truly comes Alive, feels so special. It is not only about headline events. It is about the ease of stepping out, discovering something nearby and feeling part of a place with a genuine local rhythm.
