The gala will also present this year’s “The Fighter” award to Borja Sémper, recognising his role in giving visibility to people affected by cancer and helping to normalise public conversations around the disease.

The AECC’s work in Marbella is extensive and deeply practical. Over the past year, the local branch supported 462 patients and 135 family members, delivering 2,318 sessions of care and accompaniment.

That support included social assistance for 127 people, psychological care for 290 people, 847 psychology sessions, oncology physiotherapy programmes for 171 patients and 732 physiotherapy sessions. Group activities linked to nutrition and healthy habits also supported 59 participants.

These services are provided free of charge, funded by members, donors, volunteers and companies that choose to stand behind the association’s work. That is what gives the tournament and gala their significance.
